Ailsa Black is a celebrated Scottish artist and designer who brings the joy, beauty and gentle humour of countryside and coastal life to her colourful illustrations. Trained in Graphic Design and Illustration at Gray’s School of Art in Aberdeen, she works from a bright seaside studio in the tiny village of Carsethorn in Dumfries & Galloway, where the rhythms of village life, birds, animals and ever-changing skies are her daily inspiration.

Ailsa’s work reflects the simple pleasures of life - imagined conversations among curious creatures, tranquil moments by the shore and the friendly characters she meets on her walks with her rescue dog.
