Faith Ringgold transformed the traditional craft of quilt-making into a powerful form of storytelling, using it to share the experiences of Black communities. Her famous Tar Beach quilt tells the story of a family gathered on a rooftop, blending personal and historical narratives. As a social activist, she founded organisations supporting African American women artists and created Anyone Can Fly to introduce African American masters to wider audiences. Through art, she continues to celebrate heritage, identity, and resilience.
