This World Ocean Day, we’re celebrating the beauty and importance of our oceans with artist Rachel Brooks.
Rachel is a wildlife artist and scientific illustrator based in Oban, Scotland. With a background in Zoology, Marine Biology, and Scuba diving, her delicate ink illustrations capture the breathtaking diversity of marine life. Through her art, she hopes to inspire conservation and a deeper appreciation for the ocean.

Her stunning artwork, featured in The Ocean 1000 Piece Jigsaw Puzzle, is a tribute to the wonders of the sea. As you piece together each intricate detail, you'll find yourself marvelling at the beauty of marine life and reminded of how precious it truly is!
What You Can Do to Protect Our Oceans
We all have a part to play in looking after our blue planet. Even small, mindful changes can help protect marine life and preserve the oceans for future generations. Here are a few simple ways to start:
🌊 Reduce single-use plastic
Choose reusable bags, bottles, and containers whenever you can. It’s one of the easiest ways to keep plastic waste out of our seas.
🚯 Join a local clean-up
Taking part in a beach, river, or community clean-up helps stop litter before it reaches the ocean and it’s a great way to connect with others who care.
📣 Raise awareness
Talk about the ocean, share what you’ve learned, and support artists and organisations that champion marine conservation.
🌍 Choose planet-friendly brands
Support companies that care about sustainability - from how they package products to how they source materials. Every conscious choice counts!
