Sustainable Puzzling: Making the World a Better Place, One Piece at a Time

Puzzling is great for relaxation after a long and stressful day, we also know that it’s got some amazing benefits – but do we know if it’s actually good for the environment? Follow along for a deep dive into sustainable puzzling!

Why Sustainability Has Become the New Standard in Puzzle Production

Back in the day, puzzles never used to be eco-friendly and they definitely weren’t made with the planet in mind, especially before 2010. Most of these products weren’t made with recycled board, used toxic inks and probably came wrapped in plastic film.Β

The good news is that in 2020, the puzzle industry exploded and the consumers became more conscious of sustainability. During this time, new and existing puzzle brands started removing shrink wrap, sourced eco-friendly materials and ditched the toxic inks.

Fun fact – In the last year we’ve seen brands like Wasgij, Jan Van Haasteren and Falcon down-size their puzzle boxes, meaning the use of materials are reduced and there’s no more wasted space!

Choosing Sustainable Puzzles for Your Mind and the Planet

In today’s world, making eco-friendly choices is more important than ever! By choosing these puzzles, you're not just enjoying a mindful, relaxing activity, but also making a positive impact on the environment and supporting brands that care about sustainability. It’s a great way to unwind whilst contributing to a better future for all. What’s not to love?
