A creative life, rooted in nature
When she’s not painting, Joanna’s creativity flows into many other pastimes.
“Aside from painting, I love knitting, gardening and going on long hikes - being in nature is definitely my happy place!”
That love of the outdoors feels right at home with Gaia, and it’s easy to see how time spent immersed in nature influences the warmth and energy of Joanna’s work.
Inspired by pattern, colour and maximalism
With a background in printed textiles, Joanna is naturally drawn to pattern and bold, expressive colour combinations.
“I’m really drawn to patterns and interesting colour combinations and have a lot of time for maximalism!”
Nature also plays a central role in Joanna’s creative process - particularly when travelling. Experiencing different landscapes and wildlife around the world continually shapes how she sees and creates, resulting in artwork that feels rich, layered and full of life.
Creating art to brighten the day

“The world can often feel dark and heavy, so if my art can bring even an ounce of joy and light-heartedness to someone’s day, that would mean a great deal to me.”
